Commencing New College Students Fair Event by Public Lecture of Drugs Abuse

A total of 2517 new students UPN "Veteran" Jawa crowded the Giri Loka UPN "Veteran" East Java. They were partially sitting on the floor while others in the stands, listening to lectures about the dangers of drugs abuse by the chairman of the Council of the National Anti-Drug Movement (Granat) Java, Dra. Arie Soeripan, MM. This event is one of a series that should be followed by new students, said Vice Chancellor UPN "Veteran" east Java. Vice Rector III, Ir. Mu`tasim Billh, MS who expected that new students have sufficient knowledge about the dangers of drugs abuse earlier so they can be far away from illicit drugs.
While on that occasion Rector UPN "Veteran" Prof. East Java Dr. Ir Teguh Soedarto, MP argued a public lecture deliberately chosen coincided with the momentum of the Scouts Day in order to remind new students may have a responsibility of the drugs threat. Besides reviving the scout movement in order always to have appeared overcome the problems of the nation. According to the Rector, the college has commitment to prevent drugs abuse at UPN seriously. He said that he is still considering that resistance efforts against drugs could be included in the organizational structure of the campus or research institutes on campus, so that the movement be able to move massive and structured.
"There is suggestion that this movement became one of the Student Activity Unit (UKM), but I was still less comfortable. Concerned for being exclusive and are not freely entering classes on campus "said Teguh. Therefore, that it wanted ordering as the institutions in campus organizational structure for making it easy to move all of lines on campus in the future. Not just only that, for encouraging the new students of UPN concerned and participated in anti-drugs abuse movement. Then after all new students after following orientation period should make statements and declarations simultaneously concerning anti-drugs abuse collaboration with the Board of DPD Granat East Java.
"As a college campus that has a vision of Plead State, so UPN must be the leader against every movement undermined sense of nationality, which one of them is drugs," said Teguh.
Chairman of Granat Council East Java Arie Soeripan really appreciated the attitude of the Rector UPN that has a strong commitment to participate against drugs abuse. He is also ready to provide everything is needed among the campus of being in front line, to secure the future of the nation. Because it is highly dependent on the young generations who are currently studying at the college. We should hand in hand to against drugs abuse. (dien)
