Commemoration of RI 73rd Anniversary of UPN Veteran East Java, The Momentum of Unity to Innovate, Achieve and Succeed for Indonesia

Every year UPN Veteran East Java always commemorates the Republic of Indonesia’s Anniversary. In 2018 the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia Anniversary was held simultaneously with the Week of Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) on August 16.

The program began with Healthy Walk which was attended by all lecturers and education staff and took place in the courtyard of the Rector’s building. With a cheerful atmosphere, the Chancellor of UPN Veteran East Java directly dispatched 300 lecturers and educators for healthy walking with the Route around the campus in Medokan Ayu area. Furthermore, at 08.00 WIB the Chancellor and lecturers and breakfast educators together at the Giriloka building.

Not only a healthy walk, Commemoration of RI’s 73rd Anniversary UPN Veteran East Java also held a tobelo gymnastics competition for lecturers of each faculty, choir competition, yells and UN for new students. For Choir, Yel and UN competitions, new students are trained by the PKKMB committee of each faculty.

In his remarks, Chancellor of UPN Veteran, East Java, Prof. Dr. Ir. Teguh Soedarto, MP stated that the 73rd Indonesian Anniversary commemoration at UPN Veteran East Java was a momentum of unity. “One full day we witnessed the 73rd Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia RI with our hopes as one Indonesian citizen, today we commemorate as a momentum of unity so that together we share the perception of innovation, achievement and success for Indonesia” he said.

The competitions which lasted until 14.00 WIB produced several champions such as Choir Contest which was won by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences as the first winner, the second Faculty of Law and the Computer Science champion III. Yel – Yel Contest was won by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences as the first winner, Faculty of Engineering as the second winner and Faculty of Agriculture as the third winner. Meanwhile, the UN competition was won by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences as the first winner, Faculty of Agriculture as the second winner and the Faculty of Engineering as the third winner.

Laili Khikmawati, one of the new students from FISIP feels proud that her faculty can win 1st place in 3 competitions at a time. “These 3 championships instead of the hard work of all of my friends and senior brothers who are tireless in training us, hopefully this PKKMB is an unforgettable moment for us new students,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor hopes that the cheerfulness of new students in PKKMB can affect the mindset and time of lectures. “With the togetherness between the committee and the new students, they can collaborate to create a healthy and conducive lecture climate”.
